Chinese technology giant Huawei has escaped US sanctions and returned to the top 5 global mobile chipset developers. In this respect reports The GizmoChina post cites a report from analytics firm Counterpoint Research.
According to Counterpoint Research’s Q3 2023 report, Hisilicon (wholly owned by Huawei) currently ranks 5th in the chipset market with a 3% share. As GizmoChina writes, these statistics show that Huawei, which has been out of the race for several years due to US sanctions imposed as part of the Trade War, is recovering.
Huawei’s return to the list of leaders can be explained by the company’s product line in 2023. This was primarily influenced by the release of the flagship smartphone Huawei Mate 60 on the Kirin 9000s processor with 5G support, which instantly became popular in China.
Qualcomm remains the leading player with 40% market share. Apple ranks second with a share of 31%. MediaTek ranks third with a 15% share. Then came Samsung with a 7 percent share. After Huawei comes Unisoc (2%), Google (1%) and JLQ (0.1%).
