By the end of 2023, Russian mobile operators and some other companies will receive for testing a batch of domestic SIM cards for machine-to-machine communications, used in Internet of Things equipment. In this respect reports Publication “Kommersant” (“Kommersant”) with reference to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The new chips are designed for use in Internet of Things devices. These include smart home appliances, industrial equipment, ATMs and more.
The main chip manufacturer is the Zelenograd plant “Mikron”. It will launch at least a few hundred thousand products in 2024. The Ministry of Industry and Trade does not exclude the possibility of other enterprises such as NM-Tech joining later.
Mass production and sales of chips will begin in 2024. However, Russian mobile operators have already started receiving the first batches of products for testing.
Analysts expect the machine-to-machine SIM card market to grow by approximately 20% in 2024.
