The Russian smartphone R-FON, introduced on December 18, based on the domestic Rosa Mobile operating system, provides a secure operating mode that is automatically activated on the device when a corporate or government employee comes to work. Oleg Karpitsky, General Director of the Rosa IT Center, which developed the Rosa Mobile operating system for R-FON smartphones, told socialbites.ca.
“To activate safe mode, the smartphone needs a trigger. This could be connecting to a service Wi-Fi access point or placing your smartphone on a special NFC reader at a checkpoint, usually accompanied by a pass card. In the second case, the transition is recorded in the NFC module built into the R-FON,” explained Karpitsky.
Safe mode in R-FON is the activation of certain security policies determined by the management of the company where the user works. As a rule, they represent restricting access to mass online services and allowing the use of official services.
“This feature is one of the most important in R-FON, because it allows the user to quickly switch between the operating mode of a smartphone in which a limited number of functions operate and the civilian mode with access, for example. all applications and services suitable for a person,” – said Karpitsky.
According to him, most of the current analogues of corporate mobile devices are smartphones and tablets that either have completely limited functionality from the factory or have an application for running a virtual work environment, such as VMware, where there is no local access to the company’s infrastructure. This also creates some inconveniences and risks in terms of security.
R-FON is a Russian smartphone based on the Rosa Mobile operating system, released on December 18, 2023. The device is equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with FullHD + resolution, MediaTek Helio G99 processor and 8 GB RAM.
Previously Karpitsky said “socialbites.ca”, how many people are already using R-FON.
