Ukrainian telecom operator Kyivstar has denied information that the company’s servers and computers were damaged during a recent cyber attack. Post about it seen on the official Kyivstar Facebook page (its owner, Meta, is known as an extremist and has been banned in Russia).
Rumors that “our computers and servers” were destroyed were fake, the company said.
They also denied media reports that customers’ personal data had been damaged as a result of the hacker attack. From the operator’s message, it appears that the system where user information is stored is not affected.
“We all saw these screenshots on Telegram channels. However, they depict deliberately collected technological data that has nothing to do with the personal data of our subscribers. We declare with full responsibility that your personal data is safe!” – said Kyivstar.
Ukrainian mobile phone operator was attacked by cybercriminals on December 12, 2023. The next day, pro-Russian hacker group Solntsepek claimed responsibility for the incident.
