Users of smartphones and banking applications may be at risk from various types of hacker attacks, as a result of which fraudsters can obtain victims’ money. Prime agency on this matter said Pavel Myasoedov, director of the IT-Reserve company.

The expert notes that large financial institutions are actively investing in protecting their software. At the same time, smaller banks are not as severely protected and the environment in which the scheme operates may be compromised.

According to Myasoedov, devices running on the Android operating system often become victims of viruses.

“Among these types of viruses, there are also keylogger programs. They track all changes on the screen, including what and where we type. Therefore, there is a risk of passwords being compromised,” the expert warned.

It also detected Trojan horse programs that could control the device and perform actions on behalf of the user.

Fraudsters can also use calls and SMS pretending to be bank representatives to obtain usernames and passwords. He emphasized the importance of additional authentication measures and regular updating of passwords to protect mobile banking.

As a result, Myasoedov urged Russians to be careful, follow bank recommendations and use anti-virus software to prevent the most common embezzlement schemes.
