More than a third of Russians, about 35 percent, intend to take more holidays in 2024 compared with 2023, according to a survey conducted by the online lending platform Moneyman. The study provides a snapshot of vacation planning across the country and highlights shifting attitudes toward travel. The results are reported by socialbites.ca, presenting a concise view of how households are approaching time off and holiday breaks.
A portion of respondents, roughly 27 percent, said they are not considering increasing their vacation time in the coming year. This segment reflects a more cautious stance on travel demand, budget planning, and personal priorities for rest and recreation during 2024. The remainder, about 38 percent, were unsure or found the question difficult to answer, indicating a degree of indecision or variability in holiday planning at the turn of the year.
When asked where they plan to spend their holidays, the majority favored staying within Russia, with about 76 percent indicating domestic travel. A further 14 percent planned trips abroad, while 10 percent could not provide a clear answer. This distribution underscores a strong preference for local destinations among many travelers, alongside a significant minority pursuing international getaways and a smaller segment weighing their options.
Regarding timing, the summer season emerged as the most suitable period for holidays for 79 percent of participants. The remaining 21 percent cited other seasons or did not report specific plans, illustrating a clear seasonal pattern in vacation scheduling along with some open-ended responses.
In terms of how holidays are lived out, just over half of the respondents, 54 percent, rated the two weeks, twice a year format as the most convenient. The other 46 percent preferred alternative distributions of holiday time, varying by duration, frequency, or personal circumstances, or indicated uncertainty about the best approach. This split highlights how individuals balance work, family, and travel opportunities when planning leave across a calendar year.
The survey was conducted between late November and early December of 2023, gathering responses from 1,500 working Russians aged 18 to 60 across the country. The sample provides a broad cross-section of employed adults and reflects regional differences in travel preferences and holiday planning while offering a timely read on how people allocate vacation time as the year closes.
