533 thousand smart watches were sold in Moscow and the region between January and October 2023 for a total of 7 billion rubles. This means an increase of 36% in terms of units and 16% in terms of money compared to the same period last year. This was reported by the press service of the MTS company, which analyzed the interest of residents of the capital region in the “One Number” service for autonomous use of smart watches without being tied to smartphones.
MTS concluded that interest in the service, which allows connecting any smartphone with an MTS SIM card and a smartwatch with the eSIM function on the Android operating system with a single subscriber number, is growing along with sales of smartwatches in the capital region. .
The company states that, according to the results of the first month of operation of the “One Number” service, 69% of connections to the service between Moscow and residents of the region occurred from Huawei smart watches. Samsung smartwatch models accounted for 31% of connections.
Let us also remind you that MTS launched the “One Number” service for Moscow and region residents at the end of October. You can use voice services using a smartwatch using your existing mobile number when you are away from your smartphone. In this case, range doesn’t matter; The smartwatch itself works like a phone.
The company also stated that they plan to scale the service in other regions of Russia in 2024.
