Apple has begun developing and prototyping the second version of the Vision Pro mixed reality (MR) headset. In this respect reports IT Home publication citing DigiTimes.
According to DigiTimes, the start of development of the Vision Pro 2 is indicated by orders from Apple in the supply chain. Currently, the Cupertino IT giant is testing four versions of its second-generation MR headset.
Most likely, one will be a high-priced device like the first generation, and the other will be an affordable analogue. DigiTimes writes that the cost of the budget version of Vision Pro 2 will be 50% of the cost of the components of the original device. There is no information about the other two gadgets.
Scanning of prototypes will begin in the first quarter of 2024. The launch of the second generation MR headset will not occur until the second half of 2025.
The original Vision Pro headset will go on sale in the US in the first quarter of next year.
