Various types of drones and birds at Russian airports will be detected using artificial intelligence technologies and destroyed if necessary. In this respect TASS said Vitaly Repin, Advisor to the Deputy General Director of the concern.

According to him, the ROSC-1 radar-optical complex developed by NPO Almaz has the ability to neutralize unmanned aerial vehicles.

“The software developed by PJSC NPO Almaz allows you to distinguish a drone from a bird. The locator sends a signal that is reflected from the surface of the object, which is returned and then processed. We see that there is a certain object, we see the way it behaves – flight time, flight altitude, speed, yaw, vector, etc. Then comes the analysis and mathematical calculation of this information. We can say that this is artificial intelligence,” Repin explained.

He noted that the creators of the device have developed data libraries that will help compare information from the locator and clearly recognize the object. Systems will be able to recognize the device down to the drone model.

It was also learned that the ROSC-1 system can neutralize UAVs using electronic warfare (EW) tools. For example, it can interfere with a drone’s control channel and land it at a certain point. However, if the drone continues to fly, it is possible that all its electronics may be destroyed.
