Huawei smartphone users have been largely complaining about the built-in Google app on their device’s operating system being identified as malicious. In this respect reports Huawei Center portal.

The problem was discovered last week. Users of old Huawei smartphones with GMS (P30 Pro, P20, P10, Mate 20 and Mate 10), as well as new Honor models, also encountered this problem.

The anomaly is manifested in the fact that when launching the Google application, the smartphone warns about the presence of the TrojanSMS-PA virus in it. TrojanSMS-PA is known for secretly subscribing to paid adult content and stealing users’ personal data.

Huawei smartphones, after being notified that the Google app is unsafe, offer to ignore the problem or uninstall the utility. The notification continues to appear every time the program is launched, even if the smartphone is not connected to the network.

Huawei Central writes that at the moment neither Google nor information security experts have confirmed the presence of malicious functions in the discussed application. Users tend to believe that the cause of the alarm notification is a malfunction of the Optimizer built-in security service that is pre-installed on Huawei and Honor smartphones.

To fix the problem, Huawei Central recommends clearing the Optimizer app cache and restarting the device.

Formerly Samsung reported about a big drop in profits.
