Instead of getting cheaper, the price of second-hand iPhone models in Russia increased by almost 20%. Elena Bogatyreva, exchange expert and founder of the Russian service for the rapid purchase of DamProdam equipment, talked about this in a conversation with socialbites.ca.

“Generally used gadgets lose around 20% of their value every year. They become obsolete and when a new model comes out, their prices drop significantly. Now the opposite picture is observed – we buy iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 more expensive than a year ago due to the decline in the ruble exchange rate. So, for example, in 2022, an iPhone 13 Pro Max with 256 GB was bought for 56 thousand rubles, and now we offer almost 69 thousand rubles for it,” said Bogatyreva.

It also states that old iPhone owners replaced their devices with last year’s models, not the new iPhone 15. This trend is associated with the lack of significant changes in the base iPhone 15. This is also affected by the significant price difference between the 2022 and 2023 models.

According to Bogatyreva, Apple is the clear leader in the secondary market. No other smartphone model running Android is as popular as the iPhone. This explains the increase in the price of Apple smartphones in the used device market.
