Google has confirmed that it is working to fix a glitch in Android 14 that caused storage access to be lost, apps to disappear, and memory to be locked. The portal reports this ArsTechnica.
It is stated that the problem in accessing internal memory affects users who use more than one profile on a single device. Victims complain that their primary account cannot access data on the device, while the secondary profile works fine. This leads to various errors such as constant system crashes and installed applications missing from the program list.
This glitch affected users of different generations of Google Pixel smartphones running Android 14. Currently, Google’s issue tracking system has recorded nearly 500 complaints from affected users.
Some of the victims provided log files and screenshots to demonstrate the problem. Moreover, some do not have this option – when saving, the screenshot shows an error due to lack of free memory, although in reality there is space. Some victims compared the smartphone’s behavior to a device attacked by ransomware.
A Google spokesperson said the development team was “working diligently to fix” the bug but did not announce a timeline for releasing the patch.
