Aeroflot employees held a two-day seminar for their colleagues at the Venezuelan airline Conviasa, demonstrating to guests the capabilities of the domestic Leonardo airline ticket booking system. This was reported by the press service of the carrier. The foreign delegation visited the Aeroflot office and the Sheremetyevo base airport.
Conviasa representatives were told that in November 2022, Aeroflot became one of the first Russian air carriers to successfully change its import reservation system after the imposition of sanctions and switch to a new information system for processing air transportation.
Guests were introduced to the basic operating principles of Leonardo software components. At the airport, their Venezuelan colleagues were shown how the automatic passenger and baggage check-in system works.
According to Aeroflot Deputy General Manager Information Technologies Anton Matskevich, the first year of operation has shown that the domestic reservation system has the necessary functionality to support the air carrier’s production and commercial processes.
“We are pleased to welcome our colleagues from Venezuela and share practical experience in the implementation and operation of the Leonardo system,” he said.
Let us recall that in June, Aeroflot and Conviasa signed a memorandum of understanding on expanding cooperation between the Russian Federation and Caribbean countries.
Aeroflot states that the Venezuelan carrier’s transition to the Russian Leonardo booking system will make it possible to implement a codeshare/free sale agreement involving the joint operation of flights. Flights of airline companies will be operated with a common code and passengers will be able to benefit from the bonus programs of both companies.
Conviasa is expected to switch to the Leonardo reservation system in early 2024.
