Alicante is once again hosting fashion week, marking the eighth edition of Alicante Fashion Week. The event gathers designers and brands that help define the region’s style, spreading across three main dates: October 26, October 28, and November 3, with activities unfolding at three city venues — the Local Development Agency auditorium, the Real Liceo Casino in Alicante, and the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. The schedule weaves together runway shows, talks, and interactive spaces that invite the public to engage with emerging talent and established names alike.
Across the roster, around thirty designers are set to participate, ranging from fresh newcomers to recognized brands. They will showcase their collections through fashion parades, while other participants contribute to a vibrant program that includes conferences, workshops, and open display and sale areas. The organization behind this powerful platform is Lalumier, with support from the Alicante Provincial Council, the City Council, the Local Development Agency, and additional sponsors. This mix positions Alicante Fashion Week as a live showcase for new design talent and a hub for industry professionals to connect with students and peers in a multidisciplinary setting.
AFW serves as a dynamic promotional stage that delivers practical benefits to emerging designers, respected fashion houses, and accessory brands, along with other industry professionals. It fosters a meeting point where students, designers, retailers, and media can exchange ideas, sparking collaborations and fresh perspectives on fashion as both a cultural and commercial force for the region.
The festivities begin on October 26 at the Local Development Agency with a pair of conferences that explore fashion photography and contemporary styling. Renowned photographers Giorgio Rizzi, Jesús Mora, and Borja López will discuss trends and craft, while designer Silvia Navarro presents a street-level haute couture showcase. On October 28, most programming shifts to the Real Liceo Casino, featuring a sequence of shows by emerging designers such as Juanfran Castillo, MRM, Eduardo Iborra, Ariadna Gil, Hoori Design, Mmirage, Sara Moreno, SP by Betty Paz, Esther Teban, Inés Rivero, Olé Amateurs, Selene Medina, Víctor de la Vega, Y.08, and other brands alongside curated brand parades. A special moment will highlight the resilience of designer Maria José Ortiz, who will present a retrospective collection that reflects her two decades in fashion and a personal journey recovering from a stroke. Ortiz has stated that fashion played a pivotal role in restoring her vitality, and she will share her most exemplary designs on this milestone show.
The November 3 finale moves to Plaza del Ayuntamiento, promising a unique show that blends innovation with tradition and offers audiences a fresh perspective on how fashion can illuminate the city’s cultural calendar. The closing program is crafted to surprise attendees and celebrate the creative ecosystem that Alicante has cultivated around the weeklong event.
Officials note that the initiative has grown into a key economic driver, with meaningful opportunities in textiles and footwear. Provincial Deputy for Economic Development, Carlos Pastor, has emphasized the event’s role as a stepping stone for emerging designers who carry strong creative talent across Spain. The fashion sector is recognized for its potential to generate local employment and vibrancy in the regional economy, reinforcing Alicante’s reputation as a center for innovation in design and craft.
Joaquín Galant, president of the Real Liceo Casino in Alicante, expressed strong support for AFW, noting that presenting parades to the public from the casino space offers a powerful platform for cultural exchange. He highlighted the Empire Hall’s capacity to meet expectations and underscored the venue’s openness to hosting a wide range of activities that celebrate the arts and fashion. Maria Carmen Ibáñez, a technician with the Local Development Agency, reiterated ongoing support and observed that the participant roster grows each year. She underscored fashion as a creative sector aligned with regional actions and competencies, pointing to significant potential in Alicante and the city’s leadership in this field.»
