Information security expert Alexey Lukatsky said that new smartphones can be infected with malware even before they go on sale. He talked about this in an interview with a radio station. “Satellite”.
According to the expert, there are two options for infecting new smartphones with malware. In the first of these, such programs are downloaded to the smartphone before production. Lukatsky noted that this happens with cheap Chinese models. Manufacturers of such products are trying to make money not only from smartphones, but also from the resold personal data of users.
With the second option, the virus can be installed on the device in Russia. However, according to the expert, this is theoretically quite possible.
Lukatsky believes that the average user does not have the opportunity to combat such malware outside of installing a mobile antivirus. It is almost impossible to remove a virus built into a production operating system. In this regard, the expert recommended not buying cheap smartphones from little-known manufacturers, but choosing devices from more or less well-known brands.
