According to a joint study by Mediacom.Expert and Surveyolog.ru, 15% of Russian Internet users have transferred money to bloggers for their content at least once. According to a survey, the results of which are available on socialbites.ca, the most popular topics for donations are travel, video games, entertainment and humor.
Russians donate mostly to bloggers with travel content (22%), video games (21%), and entertainment and humor content (21%). Almost one in five people send donations to bloggers who talk about psychology, personal development and health. Authors who provide content about family and parenting were supported by 18% of participants, while another 18% were supported by trainers and coaches. Additionally, 16% donated to food influencers and 16% donated to arts and culture bloggers.
About half of survey respondents donate money to bloggers sporadically, with 11% sending money about once every six months, 15% sending money every two to three months, and 17% sending money to creators once a month. One in ten people donate more frequently to bloggers.
The majority of respondents (31%) are ready to donate from 50 to 100 rubles. A quarter of respondents are ready to give bloggers from 100 to 200 rubles, 15% from 200 to 500 rubles, and 12% from 500 to 1000 rubles. Only 6% of survey participants indicated that the amount was more than 1000 rubles.
In a question with multiple possible answers, nearly half (46%) of survey respondents said they would donate to help bloggers create content. A third (32%) donate funds to influencers who do charitable work. Additionally, 28% will donate during a stream, with almost a quarter of respondents financially thanking bloggers who provide expert advice and analysis, and the same number of respondents gaining access to exclusive content this way.
A portion of respondents (17%) donate money to creators who share personal life tips at any event. In addition, 16% of respondents financially thank bloggers for their personal stories and cases, and one in ten pays for the opportunity to view content before other subscribers.
