Over the past seven days, more than 40 fraudulent sites have appeared on RuNet, imitating official online stores of major Russian retailers selling electronics and household appliances. Alexander Vurasko, an expert at the Solar AURA external digital threat monitoring center of RTK-Solar (part of Rostelecom), told socialbites.ca. According to the expert, all these fake sources were created to later deceive Russians who were planning to buy iPhone 15.

“The scheme of their operation has long been debugged. Although there are currently no cases of the iPhone 15 being “sold” on these sites, they will undoubtedly appear in the near future. We can say this by experiencing and examining the activities of attackers against the background of a new product that Apple has released in the last 5 years,” Vurasko said.

The expert explained that within the scope of fraud attacks, attackers will attract Russians to websites and motivate them to “buy” with the help of big discounts, sweepstakes and other special offers. Links to such resources will be distributed on social networks, instant messengers and via e-mail. According to Vurasko, these sites are fraught with not only the loss of money, but also the loss of accounts from instant messengers and social networks, since scammers have recently been actively integrating fake authorization forms into their sites through popular online services such as Telegram.

Russians before warned It’s about scammers offering to download iOS 17 before it’s released.
