Introduced on September 1, the MGU-270 supercomputer focuses on work in the field of artificial intelligence. This was stated by the deputy dean for scientific work of the VMK faculty of Moscow State University in an interview with socialbites.ca. Lomonosov, Professor Vasily Fomichev.
“This is a separate class of computers working with large arrays, focused on tasks in the field of artificial intelligence,” said the scientist. “The previous Lomonosov-1 and Lomonosov-2 were supercomputers of classical architecture designed to solve problems of mathematical modeling of physical phenomena. These are huge computational challenges. We need computers with just this kind of classical architecture to simulate real physical events,” said Fomichev.
“MGU-270” also allows you to perform tasks of modeling physical phenomena, such as “Lomonovosov-2”. However, its architecture is more focused on working with artificial intelligence.
“Here we need supercomputers with different architectures, developed to work with artificial intelligence systems, neural networks and big data arrays. The new supercomputer is more focused on tasks in this class,” he added.
As an example of the work that MGU-270 can perform, Fomichev named its ability to solve problems related to the analysis and recognition of medical information. The computer can diagnose by examining large datasets based on analyzes and photographs of organs.
Earlier Japanese scientists promise To create a supercomputer for the development of artificial intelligence by 2024.
