Apple started production of the iPhone 15 at its Foxconn factory in Tamil Nadu, India. This is part of the company’s strategy to diversify production in the face of worsening trade relations between the US and China. informs Bloomberg.

Apple has been assembling some iPhone models in India for a long time, but so far local factories have lagged behind Chinese factories by an average of six to nine months in terms of shipments and production start times. However, in March 2022, Apple announced that around 7% of all smartphones sold were manufactured in India and promised to increase local capacity.
According to Bloomberg, iPhone 15 production volume in India will depend on the sourcing of components and smooth acceleration of production lines at the Foxconn facility.
