Microsoft has released the Windows 11 Moment 3 update, which includes various improvements and new features. One of the most notable changes is the ability to enable seconds for the clock in the system tray.
Neowin reporter Taras Burya explained that he tested the function three times on a laptop. The 14-inch HP Pavilion x360 with Intel Core i3 and 16GB of RAM was chosen for the experiment. The gadget was charged up to 100% by disconnecting from the network using airplane mode.
“Results showed that enabling seconds on the system clock increased power consumption. On average, Windows 11 saw a 1,892% reduction in timeout when running the system clock with seconds off. However, Windows 10 with nearly identical results and an average rating drop of 1,902%. ” the author stated.
According to him, the difference is insignificant so as not to miss the opportunity. He also pointed out that there are many more factors that affect battery life in daily use, so for day-to-day work a 2% difference would be really significant.
