In the fourth quarter of 2022, the number of cybercriminal attacks against IT companies increased by 18%. It was reported by the newspaper “Kommersant”, citing data from the security company Positive Technologies.
62% of hackers used malware, a ransomware designed to steal data. “These attacks are beneficial to attackers because a compromise of an IT company could then allow an attack on its customers, i.e. users of products and services,” said a Positive Technologies representative.
In the last quarter of 2022, the total number of attacks and hacks decreased by 5% from the previous quarter, but the figure is quite high – still 15% more than in the same period last year.
