A few weeks ago the World Travel team released it GTA 5 large-scale mod Liberty City Preservation Project, which added Liberty City GTA 4. But recently it became known that this project was closed at the request of Rockstar Games.

It is reported that company representatives contacted the modders and during the conversation it was decided to close the change. One of the authors of the project nicknamed nkjellman talked about this on Discord.
Due to the unexpected attention our project received and after consultation with Rockstar Games, we have decided to close the Liberty City Preservation project. We thank everyone for their support of the project and look forward to continuing our work on modifying the Grand Theft Auto series.

The Liberty City Preservation Project adaptation included the entire playable city with a functioning subway system, radio stations from GTA 4, HD textures, radar, police, traffic and NPCs.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time mods have been banned for GTA games. For example, in 2021 we reported that Take-Two Interactive (parent company of Rockstar Games) banned the distribution of a number of mods for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
According to some gamers, the ban on the Liberty City Preservation Project can only be partially justified if Rockstar Games plans to release a full remaster of GTA 4 with an updated Liberty City.
