There is a widespread opinion online that the Russian gaming industry after 2008 has not given us a single hit. We fundamentally disagree with this. Many Russian projects have even gained popularity outside the country in recent years. In this article you will find ten fresh new products from Russia that deserve your attention.

Atomic Heart

Atomic Heart can be called the biggest surprise of last year. The developers of the Mundfish studio have released a worthy successor BioShock in the setting of the retro-futuristic USSR. Let us remind you that more than 10 years have passed since the third part subtitled Infinite, but we have not seen either a sequel or a new project from Ken Levine. Nowadays, when shooters with a single-player campaign are rarely released, Atomic Heart seems particularly interesting. Details are in our review.
What do you think of Atomic Heart?
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

An isometric RPG with an excellent plot, non-linear quests and the ability to play different roles, from a demon and an angel to a treacherous trickster. The game is clearly designed for hardcore connoisseurs of the genre, as the battles here are very difficult. Besides the regular fights Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous awaits adventures on the world map. On it you have to control large armies and conquer cities, as in “Heroes of power and magic”. You can find more information about the game in our review.
Pathological 2

Despite the number “2” in the title, this is not a sequel, but a remake of the original “Mora” 2005. The essence remains the same. We are in a steppe city where a plague epidemic is raging. The main task is to survive and at the same time find out what is happening. Moreover, the game world exists and changes not only through your actions, but also in itself. For example, the residents of a settlement stick to their routine, may become ill and even die, after which their quest ends. And after a while an army will descend on the city, which will radically change the balance of power and your abilities. Pathologic 2 offers freedom of movement, thoughtful characters and dark secrets you’ll want to unravel.
Escape from Tarkov

In May this year, developers at Battlestate Games tarnished their reputation when they released a new paid edition Escape from Tarkov. It was criticized for its high cost and the presence of Pay-to-Win elements. However, at its core we have an excellent hardcore shooter with elements of survival and MMO. The well thought out mechanics will motivate you to play again and again, despite the constant death from random bullets. Please note that the project is in early access, so updates with new content are released regularly. We talked about it in a separate article.
King’s premium 2

The very first King’s Bounty was released in 1990. They were released 18 years later a new performance with the subtitle “The Legend of the Knight”, which received many additions. And it wasn’t until 2021 that we saw a full-fledged one second part. All games in this series represent the adventures of a hero or heroine, with travel across a world map and turn-based battles. In King’s Bounty 2, battles have become more difficult. Now, for example, you have to take the terrain into account during battles. Over time, your fighters will gain experience and become stronger. We have described the advantages and disadvantages of this game in an extensive review.
Walk Hero

An unusual rogue-like with indirect controls. IN Loop Hero, the main character, walks along the same path and kills enemies himself. You can only influence the world around him – make the path of the main character easier or, conversely, more difficult so that the character gains more experience. The terrain changes with the help of cards that fall from monsters. A simple yet captivating concept goes well with pixel art graphics.
Spectator 2

IN In the first part we played as a vigilant neighbor who spied on other residents. IN in the future they offer to work in the ministry. You will have to earn authority from your superiors and train your colleagues along the way. The game offers many ways to move up the career ladder, including mean and cruel methods. The ultimate goal is to meet the ruler of the state and reveal his dark secrets.
Breathing

A survivalist game set in space is a very interesting concept. But in Breathedge combines it with excellent humor and a familiar Soviet flavor, making the game completely unique. Moreover, the developers did not overcomplicate their project – the gameplay can be called simple, especially in comparison with other representatives of the genre. Before us lies a light comedy that will make you smile and go out in one breath. You can learn more about the game in our review.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

In the game you can take control of a rogue trader with special powers. You travel through the outskirts of the Imperium, coming into contact with xenos, negotiating cooperation or destroying them. The battles take place in a step-by-step mode, as in the series XCOM. The game has been criticized for technical errors, which are now actively being corrected, but has been praised for its gameplay and fidelity to the canons.
Atomic RPG

An isometric role-playing game set in a post-apocalyptic USSR. Parallels between Atom RPG and classic features Fallout occurs. Moreover, the domestic project can be praised not only for its excellent gameplay, but also for its excellent humor. If you’re not put off by 2D graphics, give it a try!
