A hacker nicknamed Destroyer2009, who distributed cheats to Genburten and ImperialHal players during the tournament Apex Legends explained its action. He wanted to alert Respawn to vulnerabilities and support esports players.
Destroyer2009 gave an interview to Tech Crunch, detailing the usefulness of hacking professional players during the tournament. According to him, he wanted to demonstrate to Respawn that their security measures were completely unprepared for a hacker attack. True, he did not personally declare this: the company does not pay compensation for vulnerability information.

The hacker refused to say how exactly he accomplished the hack. He just hinted that it wasn’t the servers.
“I really don’t want to go into details until everything is resolved and back to normal,” Destroyer2009 noted.
The hacker also stated that he had no intention of harming the careers of the cyber athletes he hacked. On the contrary, he wanted to attract an audience for it.
“Free attention and vision for them. They are good guys,” the burglar added.

Let us remind you that during the competition, two participants received cheats in the game. One player could see opponents through walls, and the second could auto-target, forcing a stoppage of the match. Respawn studio responded by releasing an update to combat cheaters.
