Background: EA has canceled a shooter about the Mandalorian and is refusing to release games based on other people’s universes
Tom Henderson has revealed details of Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars shooter, which was canceled yesterday. An insider previously reported that the main character was a Mandalorian bounty hunter.
From the report, it seems that fans of the universe have lost a truly valuable game. Developers and testers called the project “fantastic”, and in the studio they enjoyed the whole working process. But at some point EA decided to cancel the game because they felt it was “too much financial risk”.
Players were inside between missions “hollow” – an operational base with a map of the galaxy, an arsenal and an equipment upgrade station. Here the hero chose a task and a weapon, after which he flew on a ship in search of a target.

The game featured several linear levels, as well as larger open locations filled with various secrets. The combat system was called dynamic: the hero had a jetpack, which allowed him to quickly reach enemies or hard-to-reach places. Finishing moves in the spirit of the latest Doom games were also mentioned.
The main opponents were stormtroopers with various weapons who patrolled most locations. The hero may also encounter bandits, AT-ST walkers, and even other bounty hunters.
According to Tom Henderson, the game was far from being released, but the developers already had a vertical version and several almost completed levels ready. The game was planned to be released for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
