We have received a new review of the updated TECNO MEGABOOK T1 14-inch laptop. The new product is equipped with a more powerful processor and is aimed at the segment of devices for solving everyday and professional tasks. Let’s take a closer look at the “megabook”. .

Last year we saw the company’s devices for the first time and managed to evaluate the 15-inch TECNO MEGABOOK S1 ultrabook. This time we got the 14-inch version of the updated TECNO MEGABOOK T1 laptop with the 12th generation Intel processor. The baseline also offers a 15.6″ version with a choice of AMD and Intel processors.

Appearance
TECNO MEGABOOK T1 comes in Galaxy Silver color and the housing material is made of magnesium alloy. The surface is matte, with a slight roughness. The lid opens easily with the help of a special recess in the center, and the model passes the “MacBook test” – you can open the lid with one finger. The maximum angle is 180°.
The laptop supports the business style chosen by the company and will not please fans of RGB lighting – there are no gaming details in the design. On the lid you will see a small factory logo in the right corner and a fairly large stylized MEGABOOK inscription at the top.

The 14-inch laptop screen offers a non-standard resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16 by 10. The refresh rate is 60 Hz, which may already seem low for modern devices. The stated brightness of the screen is 350 nits, which is sufficient for working on a bright day. The specified color gamut is 100% sRGB and adaptive brightness DC dimming. In addition, the display has received the TÜV Eye Comfort certification (minimal eye strain).

At the top edge you will see a webcam peephole with Full HD resolution (2 MP). If desired, you can lower the mechanical curtain. There are two nearby microphones with AI noise cancellation for video calling.
On the left edge there is a USB Type-C port for charging. You can also see the Kensington lock hole, battery indicator, HDMI video output, USB3 Type A and USB3 Type C ports with support for video output and fast charging for other devices.

On the other side is a reset button hole, a microSD card slot, two USB3 Type A ports and a 3.5mm mini-jack for connecting audio. The back and front are without connectors.

The laptop rests on three rubber feet, the largest of which features the company motto Stop at Nothing. There is also a patterned center vent for the cooling system and two holes for the TECNO VOC audio system, which supports DTS:X Ultra surround sound technology. There’s not much to praise about the two 2W speakers; they lack midrange and bass, but this is still sufficient for a laptop.

MEGABOOK T1 offers a short membrane keyboard. Here you won’t find a block of number keys, and to press some of them you have to hold down special combinations (for example, to take a screenshot). At the top right you will see a separate on/off button with a fingerprint scanner. The keyboard backlight is white with four brightness settings.

Most of the work surface is occupied by a fairly pleasant and responsive touchpad. But the left and right buttons work noticeably closer to the edge, and between them in the center there is a blind zone where there is no pressing.
The claimed battery capacity is over 75Wh, which can deliver around 18 hours of battery life on a single charge. The kit includes a small white 65W power supply.

Performance. Synthetic testing
We tested the TECNO MEGABOOK T1 laptop in synthetic tests Cinebench R23, CPU-Z and CrystalDiskMark. The results are in the screenshots.
We also assessed the laptop’s power in 3DMark: Fire Strike, Time Spy, CPU Profile and Storage Benchmark tests to check the speed of loading games on the SSD.
Performance. Playtesting
The temperature of the Intel Core i5-12450H processor and integrated video card reached 85 degrees in gaming tests. Let’s look at the silent cooling system, which does not distract from work at all and only reminds of itself in rare cases and during gaming sessions.
We conducted tests in various, not the most demanding games and session projects. Only with low/medium settings at a native resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels you can see 45-60 FPS. With a lower resolution you can achieve smooth 60 frames, but visually it is not the most pleasant experience.
The TECNO MEGABOOK T1 laptop is suitable for the most demanding games: World of Tanks, League of Legends, Fortnite, Counter-Strike and so on. Projects with advanced graphics lack a discrete video card.
Results and prizes
So what is the TECNO MEGABOOK T1 14″ suitable for? For office applications, for design programs and linear editing. You should not expect perfect work with complex 3D graphics or fast rendering of 4K video, but the laptop is sufficient – after all, it has a 12th generation processor with 8 cores and overclocking up to 4.4 GHz in Turbo Boost mode.

TECNO MEGABOOK T1 14″ is a compact solution for working both at home and outdoors. The laptop weighs only 1.4 kg and the charger almost fits in your pocket.
Perfect construction. The laptop has a sturdy metal casing, an easy-to-open lid and an easy-to-type keyboard.
Guardian of the treasury. The cost of the laptop is on the border of budget devices, but the model features a discreet business style and a fairly fast combination of processor, RAM and SSD for everyday tasks.
