Technical experts from Digital Foundry published a video about the most unoptimized PC games of 2023. There are no places on the list, although journalists had to name the three worst ports.

DF noted that they only evaluated the releases they played themselves. Additionally, they looked at both the launch version and the patched version to see if the developers could fix the issues. For this reason, journalists have not taken on fall and winter releases, as they typically take about three months to fix.

Digital Foundry was the first to mention ports with happy endings: The Last of Us: Part 1, Abandoned and Redfall. All three titles came out in a sad state (especially the Naughty Dog game), but patches were able to save the situation.

What can’t be said about the next three: the remake Empty space, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Wild hearts. The games performed poorly on all platforms, but the studios only fixed the console versions. Interestingly, all three titles were released by one publisher: Electronic Arts.

Separately, Digital Foundry noted Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (the worst port of a AAA game) and Wild Hearts (basically the worst port). The Jedi action game is slow on all computers regardless of settings, but in Wild Hearts it is even worse. The worst part is not that the game suffers from long freezes, but that they never end.
