Background: The first scores for Alan Wake 2 have been released. Another contender for Game of the Year?
Together with the reviews, the first technical reviews appeared online Alan Wake 2. Experts from Digital Foundry released a 15-minute video talking about graphics features and comparing the visuals on PC and PS5.
Experts called it game “an impressive achievement” technically and artistically. The sequel looks great on both platforms and DF hasn’t noticed any issues typical of such releases. However, minor defects still occur occasionally.
The console version, as expected, looks worse due to less developed shadows and reflections. The best image will be seen by owners of RTX 40 series video cards with support for full ray tracing.

TechPowerUp has already tested the horror game on 23 video cards. The RTX 3060 achieves an average of 45 FPS with maximum graphics settings, but this is without ray tracing and with a resolution of 1080p.

Blogger Daniel Owen also showed how the game runs on different video cards, including the GeForce GTX 1070, which the game does not officially support. On average, the frame rate remained around 18-20 FPS.

DSOGaming went even further and launched the new product on the GTX 980. The result is 10 frames per second, visual artifacts and crashes when attempting to change the resolution.
Alan Wake 2 will be released on October 27 for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
