World of Ships received a major update 12.8, dedicated to the eighth anniversary of the project. Gamers can expect in-game activities, early access to Soviet submarines and more.

The new event “For Progress” takes gamers to an alternate future, where after World War II the whole world united to develop technology and make incredible progress in the fields of robotics, space travel and the creation of AI. The event includes the ‘Guardian of Progress’ adventure, the ‘In the Name of Progress’ collection, the new battleship ‘Scarlet Thunder’ and various bonuses and rewards. In addition, the port “Designer’s Table” has been updated – now it is called “Naukograd”.

A new battle pass has also become available. The final reward for the basic version of the pass consists of 7 rare bonus containers and 50 progress tokens. Owners of the upgraded version will receive more rewards, including an animated commander Mikhail Orlov and 200 progress tokens.
A week after the update’s release, players will get early access to three Soviet submarines: S-1, L-20 and K-1. The “Archipelago of Heroes” event also begins, where you must conquer an archipelago divided into 7 areas of varying difficulty. Among the rewards are Soviet dog tags.
The developers have also prepared the “Battle on Schill” event. Until December 13, a set with the German cruiser Schill appeared in the Admiralty. To get a ship, you need to collect a certain number of “project fragments,” which are awarded for completing special weekly combat missions.
Finally, Airship Escort has become a permanent mode in Random Battles.
