I have known the cult film “Leon” since childhood. This tragic and moving story immediately penetrated my soul, like the heroine Matilda. She is smart and stubborn, sometimes naive and frivolous. Such characters attract me the most: emotional, sensual, passionate. Matilda has a huge range of emotions that I wanted to try to embody in the photo: from a lost lonely girl to a tough, professionally trained killer.
Plus, I love her style of dressing! I tried to imitate her outfits as closely as possible and to make myself completely absorbed in the image, I made the same haircut as the heroine’s. I think I have completed the task I set myself.
I didn’t want to just take a photo, but imitate frames from the movie. Nikolai Shevchenko (OmegaN) brilliantly solved this task. And of course nowhere without Leon. I am very happy that it was Igor Ugarov who was my partner. Look how much he looks like Jean Reno! I just love our collaboration.
