Background: Patch 4.01 has been released for the next-gen version of The Witcher 3. Ray tracing for weaker PCsCD Projekt RED recently released patch 4.01 for the next-gen version. The Witcher 3, which with ray tracing should provide more stable work even on conditionally weak PCs. However, some gamers on Steam have already started complaining that the update did not improve the game’s performance, but, on the contrary, lowered it.

Here’s what the players are saying:
“The game became completely unplayable after installing patch 4.01. There are strong lags when moving and panning the camera. The game freezes for about 0.2 seconds every few seconds on my RTX 4090 at 4K with Ultra+ and full ray tracing. There used to be no problems.”-DreamCore.SwE.
“Same, I have a drastic performance drop from 65-70 FPS on high settings to only 35 FPS now… something went wrong… 1080 Ti at 3440×1440”— VKNG.
“And I have the same / RTX 4080”– 5-hydroxytryptamine.
“Same problem. After installing patch 4.01, FPS dropped from 90 to 30 without changing settings (high graphics, no ray tracing, TAAU at 3440×1440 on RTX 2060 Super)Socolio.
“Great! From locked 60 fps to 40 by one patch. Is there a way to get it back?” — Voodoo kid.

Some gamers have found a way to improve performance. This requires a switch to DirectX 11, but in this case the functions of the next-gen version are lost. Apparently CD Projekt RED will release another update in the near future.❗️ Fake Escape From Tarkov has been released on Steam
