remake Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was delayed nearly two years ago, and in that time we’ve only learned two things: that the game hasn’t been canceled and is now being made by Ubisoft Montreal. At the same time, the release could have happened a long time ago: according to words Insider and data miner Lance McDonald, Ubisoft was poised to release an action game but abruptly changed its mind at one point.
In fact, the remake was done. It went gold, was certified by Sony and uploaded to the PlayStation servers. Some craftsmen were even able to store and decrypt it using pre-order encryption keys.

The exact reason why the company has so abruptly delayed the game, McDonald is not exactly sure. In his opinion, this was influenced by some legal issues. In the comments, one of the users suggested that Ubisoft did not want to lose face in front of the players, especially against the background of a high-profile scandal involving Cyberpunk 2077.
Recall that initially the Indian division of Ubisoft was working on the remake, which, according to rumors, consisted of inexperienced developers. Now the project doesn’t even have an estimated release date.
