Review embargo lifted yesterday (November 3) God of War: Ragnarok. The project was expected to receive very high marks. While this is a top AAA release, the game has been developed for PS4 in addition to PS5. The network has already revealed what will happen to the eighth-generation console when a new Sony title runs on it.

In the video, the rather loud noise of PS4 coolers in operation is compared to the sound of an airplane taking off. Obviously, Sony is now literally squeezing all the juice out of its eighth-generation console. Despite this, the game runs quite well on PS4, with a stable 30 FPS.
Below is a video comparing God of War: Ragnarok on all the consoles this game will be released on (PS4, PS4 Pro, and PS5).

These are the features of each version of the game:
- PS4 (weighs 107GB). Operates at 1080p resolution and 30 FPS;
- PS4 Pro (weighs 107GB). Can work in two modes: quality (1440p-1656p and 30 FPS) and performance (1080p-1656p and 60 FPS);
- PS5 (weighs 84GB). It can operate in two modes: quality (native 2160p and 30 FPS) and performance (1440p-2160p and 60 FPS). You can also enable Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) in-game if you have an HDMI 2.1 cable. In this format, the game shows about 40 FPS in quality mode and about 80 FPS in performance mode.
And here’s what the comparison author came up with:
- PS5 version has better reflections, ambient shading, textures, more vegetation, drawing spacing and shadows compared to PS4 and PS4 Pro;
- 120Hz mode supports VRR on PS5, if you enable VRR in resolution mode, you can unlock the frame rate;
- PS4 Pro does not support 60 FPS in performance mode. The frame rate stays closer to 50 FPS.
- Performance mode on PS4 Pro and PS5 reduces the quality of some reflections, shadows, particles and character spacing.
- The base platform for development was the PS4. There are fewer differences between the two generations than in the case of Horizon Forbidden West.

God of War: Ragnarok will be released on November 9. This is what happens when you smoke near PS4
