A new gameplay video has surfaced online. The Outlast Trials, who not only showed new footage but also shared their first impressions of the project. This is the first level of the game, which the Red Barrels studio has given access to the author of the video.
The Outlast Trials is a prequel to the previous installments. Previously the protagonists were journalists, now gamers have to play for experimental prisoners, who are subjected to terrible experiments during the Cold War in a mysterious complex.
At the beginning of the passage, the game includes a small tutorial that helps gamers learn the basics of survival. One of the main features, which by the way perfectly complements the oppressive atmosphere of horror, is an excellent sound design.
Stealth is an important part of the gameplay. The character will often have to behave in a way that doesn’t attract too much attention. Otherwise, the enemy will quickly kill the hero. Sometimes you have to explore locations in the pitch dark. However, the game offers a night vision device, but the charge does not last long.
As for the inventory system, players can bring up to three items. At some points you need to think carefully about which nominal subject you give priority.

Another feature is the ability to pump. During the passage, the character can learn new skills, including the ability to see through walls.
At the end of the video they showed the central location with the possibility of customization. In it, gamers can meet to start a cooperative passage.
