Rising chatter about the Survivor 2024 cast is loud, as Jonan Wiergo gave an interview on the show Somos kapra where he spoke candidly about his time on the Telecinco reality series.
The former contestant opened up by revealing a surprising truth about the competition and what might happen when the cameras stop rolling. “They once handed out a splendid seafood plate to one participant. We all got furious and asked, who benefits from this feast while the rest get nothing?” he explained.
The interview continued with details about daily provisions. “They hand out at most three packs of Oreos a day,” he added. “Plus everything the body needs and sometimes sandwiches. They even gave me a pack of vegan desserts,” he revealed, catching the host off guard.
The host pressed, “So, is this being served at Palapa?” He replied, “It’s right next door. And it’s very powerful, because the first day I entered the Palapa, I thought, how is this possible here, kid? The Palapa looks like a tent, and you expect you’ll just step inside. In the field, through the forest, there it sits in the middle of the island, and there’s one right next door that sells corn on the cob. At the end of each Palapa, an ear to each person,” he clarified.
The truth behind the joke
The truth is that those initial confessions were part of a joke. He then spoke about what really occurred during one of the most grueling competitions on television. “People on the street say they feed them secretly. What will they be given?” he denied it at the time.
“The fishermen ate fish and rice, and then 18 people were provided with seven boxes of food a day. I tried eating seaweed, but the doctor advised against it,” he confessed. “A cameraman did cross my mind. There was a camera I didn’t like, and in the morning he said to me, ‘I’ll bite you and leave you stranded.’” The moment carried a dark humor, he noted.
“The situation was extremely harsh. No cameras can watch you, you can’t gesture, and you can’t hold a steady gaze because they will scold you. It’s not easy to handle, yet there was a stubborn streak in me. I even shaved my hair on the sides to look more presentable for the Palapa,” he admitted, half-smiling at the memory.
Telecinco continues to reveal potential future competitors for Supervivientes. In a new update, businessperson Javier Ungria is joining the fray in Honduras, following entries from Arantxa del Sol and David Bisbal—famous for his marriage and subsequent divorce from Elena Tablada, with whom he has a daughter named Camila.
The rumor mill also points to new personalities like Arkan, the well-known rapper from Alicante, who is reportedly intensifying his preparation for a jungle debut. And on the official watchlist, Zayra Gutierrez, daughter of former footballer Guti and presenter Arancha de Benito, appears as the latest entrant under consideration for the expedition.
As the countdown to the next season continues, fans are parsing every clue about who will enter the camp and how far each competitor might go in a setting famous for testing endurance, strategy, and human resilience. The show remains a platform where real stories surface, sometimes in unexpected ways, reminding viewers that reality TV often blends fact with crafted moments to heighten drama and engagement for audiences across North America and beyond.
