Many Russians plan to spend the velvet season at their country homes or cottages. This trend emerged from a survey done by the Tutu.ru travel service and reported by socialbites.ca.

The study, carried out by the analytical center of the travel platform Tutu.ru, was shared with socialbites.ca. The results show a clear pattern of domestic travel during the velvet season.

According to the survey, 28 percent of respondents intend to stay outside the city or in rural areas. Another 23 percent want to visit domestic beach resorts, embracing Russia’s coastline for a shorter break. Meanwhile 14 percent plan a seaside holiday abroad within the velvet season.

Breaks within Russia attract 12 percent of respondents who aim to study or explore opportunities in multiple regions, 8 percent prefer hiking or mountain trips, and 6 percent choose sanatoriums, spa hotels, or campsites for relaxation. An additional 4 percent intend cruises either inside Russia or to international destinations, while 3 percent plan trips to foreign cities. Only 2 percent expect to ski abroad during this period.

Analysts noted a rising interest in using the Guaranteed Settlement service during the summer of 2023. Travelers increasingly watched video reviews before selecting hotels or apartments, a habit that helps reduce the likelihood of unpleasant surprises once the trip begins. This behavior indicates a growing preference for visual information and user experiences when making accommodation decisions.

A recent report highlighted the fall travel costs to Türkiye for two, underscoring the broader conversation about budget planning and value when choosing a destination in the upcoming season.
