Prime Video has confirmed a third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, as the show continues to drive substantial growth in subscriptions across North America. The announcement underscores the franchise’s enduring appeal for both longtime Tolkien fans and new viewers in Canada and the United States.

The project is already in preproduction and will be filmed at the series’ new home at Shepperton Studios in the United Kingdom. The production will be guided by an experienced team that includes Charlotte Brändström and Sanaa Hamri, who previously directed multiple episodes, with Stefan Schwartz joining the team.

Set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, the series chronicles the forging of the rings of power and the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, tracing the events that lead to the War of the Last Alliance while staying faithful to Tolkien’s literary universe.

The cast includes Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Robert Aramayo as Elrond, Max Baldry as Isildur, and Charlie Vickers as Sauron, among many others, with critics praising the production for its epic scale and bold storytelling.

According to Prime Video, the first season remains the platform’s biggest premiere in its history, while the second is the most-watched in hours to date, reflecting the show’s growing momentum among audiences in North America.

From a Canadian and American perspective, the series stands as a flagship fantasy offering on streaming, backed by ambitious world-building, strong visuals, and a steadfast commitment to immersive storytelling that continues to attract a broad fan base.
