Popular Garden Flowers and Outdoor Accessories Rise in Demand Across Regions

Nasturtiums, zinnias, and delphiniums stand out as some of the most requested garden flowers. A recent study published by socialbites.ca using data from the online hypermarket VseInstrumenty.ru highlights these varieties as favorites among buyers this season. The appeal of these blooms lies not only in their vibrant colors but also in their versatility for different garden styles, from cottage gardens to modern borders. The data points to a broader interest in flowering annuals that provide quick color and easy cultivation, a trend echoed by many gardeners looking to refresh plots after challenging growing seasons.

Seed purchases for flowers this year rose by 29 percent compared with the prior year. Petunias, marigolds, nasturtiums, zinnias, delphiniums, and asters were especially popular with shoppers in Russia. The strongest demand appeared in specific urban and regional areas, with Volgograd showing a remarkable surge of 331 percent, Novosibirsk up 284 percent, Voronezh up 124 percent, Nizhny Novgorod up 65 percent, and Moscow up 26 percent. These shifts suggest that gardeners in diverse locales are prioritizing bright, reliable performers that can thrive in varied climates and urban settings. The pattern also hints at seasonal planting cycles where gardeners seek late-spring or early-summer varieties to maximize garden impact during peak growing months.

Beyond flower seeds, summer residents increased purchases related to ponds and fountains by 140 percent. This uptick reflects a growing interest in creating micro landscapes that combine water features with plantings, inviting wildlife and enhancing outdoor living spaces. Notable items commonly chosen to adorn these features include ducklings, water lilies, and decorative birds such as storks. This emphasis on water décor underscores a broader trend toward creating tranquil garden zones that balance color from blooms with the soothing presence of water and aquatic plants. Gardeners often pair these elements with easy-to-care-for perennials to maintain year-round interest while adding dynamic focal points to the landscape.

Decorative sales for gardens and cottages rose by 183 percent, illustrating how households are investing in atmosphere as much as structure. While garden lamps saw a slight nationwide dip of 3 percent, several regions bucked the trend with noticeable gains: Yekaterinburg up 86 percent, St. Petersburg up 69 percent, Nizhny Novgorod up 28 percent, and Volgograd up 22 percent. The regional variance suggests that outdoor lighting is increasingly viewed as an essential component of evening enjoyment, safety, and dramatic landscape effects during longer evenings and brighter summer nights. Garden design is evolving toward layered, eye-catching displays where lighting, water features, and a curated mix of flowers work together to create cohesive outdoor rooms.
