The prevailing moment from Paris Fashion Week centers on an embracing of oversized bags. Influencers and stylists like Vladislav Lisovets and Olga Kim, who runs a curated clothing selection and distribution service, shared key observations with socialbites.ca. Lisovets suggests that a single large bag can harmonize with a second, smaller bag tucked into the look. It may feel impractical, but it adds a striking, stylish touch.
“Right now the big, comfortable, marketable, and substantial bag has made its way into homes that often cling to older trends. Yet there is a counterpoint: beside this bag sits a tiny, unexpectedly elegant bag that lends femininity to the ensemble. So, pairing two bags in one outfit is no longer a mistake,” the stylist explained.
Kim concurs, noting the abundance of large bags at the Paris runways.
“We saw shopping bags, shapeless totes, even golf bags. It’s practical and appealing,” Kim commented.
Lisovets also highlights a broader trend toward wearability: fashion houses showcased garments that people can actually wear daily.
“There is a more open silhouette and a lot of simple pieces. In the past, fashion aimed to surprise; now the emphasis is on making many people feel comfortable. The influence of the 2000s is still visible, with plenty of feminine, revealing elements, but in moderately oversized forms. Eclectic looks emerged as designers mixed pieces from different eras and styles into a single image. Rhinestones and sparkle have returned to the spotlight,” Lisovets observed.
According to the stylist, next season will bring stylish footwear with pointed or square toes, while sneakers and very thick boots should be left behind for the most part.
“Avoid sneakers in favor of dressier shoes. The heel length should match personal comfort, whether very low, medium, or long. Boots and various styles of structured footwear return after years of absence. Footwear could be paired with wide trousers or even miniskirts, but overall the shoes remain ultra-elegant,” Lisovets noted.
Kim added that white will reappear during the spring-summer 2024 period, a shift from what is typically expected for the season. The ongoing trend palette includes silver accessories and clothing, leather accents, short skirts and shorts, and low-rise dresses that continue to gain momentum.
“Micro skirts and micro shorts are back in the mix. This look isn’t for everyone, but it’s a clear sign of the season’s boldness. Draped tops and dresses that skim the body stay relevant, and there is a growing push toward low-rise silhouettes. While low waists have appeared in pants and jeans recently, they are now also defining dresses with a slightly lowered waist. This shift subtly moderates proportions. Fringe remains a popular decorative element,” Kim concluded.
Paris Fashion Week remains one of the world’s four major fashion events, stretching from September 25 to October 3, and continues to close the season with decisiveness. It is widely regarded as the most authoritative voice in the industry, shaping trends for markets across North America and beyond.
Earlier commentary from stylist Kulikova had drawn attention to garments that empower women by boosting confidence.
