In Moscow, the Sovremennik Theater announced the cancellation of upcoming performances of the play Let’s Dance… a work based on the writing of Lyudmila Ulitskaya. The theater’s press service confirmed the information to the news agency TASS, noting that the planned showings would not take place as scheduled.

Reports from journalists indicate that the Sovremennik will not host screenings of Let’s Dance… that were set for February 18 and March 22, signaling a pause in the production’s planned run.

On February 1, the publishing house AST announced a suspension of payments under all contracts with Ulitskaya after her statements suggested that royalty income from books sold in Russia might be redirected to Ukraine. The decision was framed as a precautionary measure while the matter was being clarified and while the author prepared any official statements regarding the recipients of book-related deductions.

On February 5, the Perm Theater for Young Audiences cancelled the Ulitskaya-based production Jewish Happiness, replacing it with Baykal Quadrille. The theater director stated that the final fate of the show would be determined following the theatre’s forthcoming review of Ulitskaya’s public comments.

Earlier reports noted that another well-known performer also faced responsibilities connected to medical care, underscoring the broader disruptions affecting cultural institutions during this period.
