New serials release weekly while beloved favorites return, and the schedule can feel almost unmanageable. In this section, five suggestions are offered that are practically foolproof in principle.

‘Guillermo Del Toro’s cabinet of wonder’ (Netflix from Tuesday)

Iconic fantasy filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro reimagines the concept behind his lavish 2013 book as an anthology of horror stories. In a classic Rod Serling-inspired frame reminiscent of The Twilight Zone, Del Toro introduces each episode and explains the director-driven approach behind the pieces. William Navarro, the frequent cinematographer, and Jennifer Kent, known for Badook, contribute to the creative force behind the titles trending upward. Debuts by David and Cloths surface as episode titles on the rise. Two stories will be released each day from Tuesday through Friday.

‘Immortal’ (Movistar Plus +, Thursday)

Themes of betrayal, greed, and extremism anchor this fictional portrait of the founder and leader of Los Miami, a coca-processing gang in Madrid during the 1990s. Alex Garcia, recognized from Sorogoyen’s riot police roster, leads a cast that includes Marcel Borràs, María Hervás, and Jon Kortajarena. The creator, José Manuel Lawrence, describes the series as a portrait of a Madrid that burned bright every night, with white lights revealing the most unlikely corners. The story promises a candid, time-specific lens on a city in flux.

‘Big mouth (season 6)’ (Netflix, Friday)

Originally slated as an adult-oriented animated series, this season promises to be a surprising and relatable survival guide for teens. The show tackles a broad spectrum of biological, sexual, and bodily topics with a sincerity that blends humor and honesty. The sixth season leans into family dynamics, examining how boundaries and closeness shape every individual. Among the guest voices are Brian Tyree Henry, known from The Paper Boy, and Jeff Goldblum, with creative contributions from Tyler.

‘Garcia!’ (HBO Max, Friday)

Fusing political thriller elements with superhero fantasy, this adaptation of the Santiago Garcia and Louis Bustos graphic novel follows a young journalist on a groundbreaking lead. The plot centers on a supersoldier created by a secret Francoist institution and cryogenically frozen for six decades. Eugene Mira, director of The Grand Piano, treats the material with a blend of seriousness and satirical edge, offering a show that aims to entertain without resorting to parody.

‘Stories to keep you awake (season 2)’ (Prime Video, Friday)

In the second season of the modern take on a legendary anthology, Salvador Calvo, Nacho Vigalondo, Alice Waddington, and Jaume Balaguero assemble contemporary interpretations of well-known tales. The collection includes Transplantation, an exploration of a future where organ transplants are strictly regulated by medical necessity; Alarm, a tale about a couple confronting an apocalyptic reality; The Nightmare, set in a Galician village scarred by murder; and The Television, a story that follows a paranoid spiral. The series blends speculative narratives with intimate character studies to invite viewers to look twice at familiar fears.
