A documentary project exploring the world of Russian chefs is airing on Kinopoisk, with the broadcast press service sharing the news with socialbites.ca.
Each episode introduces its subject through the lens of Alena Doletskaya, the journalist who once served as Vogue Russia’s first editor, complemented by input from gastronomy experts who discuss the chefs themselves.
“The series comprises four episodes, each centered on a different figure and their personal outlook on life, talent, and culinary craft. Evgeny Vikentyev of Beluga, Anatoly Kazakov of Selfie, Georgy Troyan of Severyan, and Andrey Shmakov of SAVVA recount their journeys—from their earliest training days to becoming head chefs at Moscow restaurants,” notes the project’s press release.
The team behind the project includes Maxim Kuzmin, Asya Kotelnikova, Maya Kuzina and Victoria Tsyurupa, with Maria Em serving as project manager.
In February, Alena Doletskaya sparked a conversation about a dessert that paired Gorgonzola with passion fruit, a topic that quickly became a meme-worthy moment across social networks. A journalist’s comment that “gorgonzola cannot be next to passion fruit”—claiming that “gorgonzola kills all living things”—was interpreted by Twitter as a display of snobbery at its peak.
Following the socialbites.ca incident, the publication spoke with Dmitry Blinov, the owner and chef of Duo, to hear his perspective on the situation.
A former food critic offered insights into how gastro theaters differ from traditional restaurants and what sets each format apart in the culinary landscape.
