Countdown to premiere for Thistle season two is underway. New episodes, created by Ana Rujas and Claudia Costafreda, will arrive in the Atresplayer Premium catalog next February, as the platform announced in a press release on Wednesday.
In the new season, María is released from prison and ready to regain control of her life. She aims to leave behind the path of extremism that caused so much trouble and to find steady work. Yet life for an ex-convict proves difficult, and her friendships have frayed. What once felt close now feels distant. She ends up facing solitude.
Ana Rujas steps back into the shoes of María, the central figure of the drama, with the full first season already available on the Atresmedia TV pay service.
The cast also includes Diego Ibáñez, Ana Telenti, Clara Sans, Arrieta Villa, Nur Olabarría, Nassim Lyes, Pilar Gómez, Victoria Santos, Joan Solé, Alba Galocha, Edu Tudela, and others, all set for the forthcoming installments.
The series earned the Ondas Award for Best Dramatic Series on Wednesday, bolstering the strength of the acclaimed first season and reinforcing its status as one of last year’s most celebrated fiction programs.
Produced by Atresmedia Televisión in collaboration with Suma Content, Montse García, Beltrán Gortázar, and Marta Pastor serve as executive producers. Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, known for Cardo, act as producers for this second season.
The creative team includes Carlos Rigo Bellver as director of photography, Ana López Cobos as costume designer, Alfonso Mancha as artistic director, Rodrigo Madrigal as sound director, and Borja Pakrolsky as creative director. Goya Award winner Sergio Jiménez returns to oversee production alongside Ana Benzal. Ana Rujas and Claudia Costafreda penned the scripts for four episodes, with the remaining two written by Lluís Sellarès.
Cardo will bring Madrid back to life in its new episodes, revealing neighborhoods beyond Carabanchel and Malasaña, including Tetuán and Vallecas.
