Activision unveiled a complete trailer and the first screenshots, while also confirming the release date for the shooter Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. The anticipation was built around a Steam debut, where the project page has appeared in the store. Note that Russia and Belarus are not included in the regional availability. Pre-orders are open, and early access to an open beta is offered before launch. Players can choose between two editions: the Standard Edition and the Vault Edition, which adds the Red Team 141 Operator Pack, a Weapon Pack, and 50 Battle Pass Tiers for Season 1.
Among Modern Warfare 2’s standout features, the developers highlight what they describe as the series’ most realistic AI, refined swimming mechanics, an updated weapon tuning system, and three core modes: a single‑player campaign, multiplayer, and cooperative special operations. The narrative unfolds three years after the events of the first game, focusing on the operational-tactical group 141 as they confront a Mexican drug cartel and the terrorist faction Al-Qatala. In these missions, players will travel through Mexico, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.
In multiplayer, the emphasis is on compact 6v6 maps designed for fast, action-packed engagements, with promises of some larger maps to be revealed later. The game also supports expansive multiplayer experiences, providing variety for different playstyles and team strategies.
The game is scheduled to release on October 28 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and both Xbox Series X and Series S. Warzone 2 is slated to arrive on the same platforms by the end of the year, aligning with the broader launch window. A mobile version of Warzone was also anticipated to follow before year’s end. Attention should be paid to regional availability and platform specifics as the launch approaches.
