Andreu Buenafuente looked back at some of the most striking news from the year 2023 during the special broadcast Que ens bombin a tots on TV3 last night. The presenter, who narrated the events that shaped the year with humor, also found room for a playful take in a launch sequence. The moment skewered figures like Pablo Motos and Alfonso Guerra in a series of darts aimed at public figures. A few weeks earlier, he had been at the center of a controversial interview on El Hormiguero.
“This year brought so many surprises. It felt like the police hitting a gong at a quiet moment. Or that Puigdemont might hold the key to Spain’s stability. Or when Pablo Motos declared he was ashamed of being Spanish,” Buenafuente began his monologue. But there was more for the host of El Hormiguero to address.
Buenafuente’s phone buzzed as if receiving a civil protection alert to throw a dart at Antena 3’s program: “What a shock! … I thought Pablo Motos was calling to scold me.” Moments later, in an interview with Alfonso Guerra, he teased: “He always invites figures who are actively involved in current political debates.”

Buenafuente recalled Guerra’s provocative moment on El Hormiguero and noted that it now sits with some regret: comedians should be careful when joking about sensitive topics. He also reflected on Motos’s reaction, who supported his guest’s words: “When a comedian does a show, he spends more time addressing what cannot be spoken about than what can be spoken about.”
This prompted the Catalan host to admit that he did not find it funny when jokes about him were made and warned that a sharp word could reach him: “But beware, an ant might call you if you joke about Pablo Motos. And this is real. He might want to reach out and say: ‘Pablo is worried because you are making jokes about him.’ I tell them: ‘Really?’ They answer: ‘Do you know what I want?’ And I say: ‘Well, the El Hormiguero card!’
It is worth noting that only weeks before, several comedians said they received calls from Pablo Motos’ team asking to curb jokes about the presenter. “Pablo Motos is holding people accountable and making calls to seek explanations about jokes,” Facu Díaz remarked, noting the courage some comics show when challenging boundaries.
