On the 30th anniversary of Alcàsser’s crime, laSexta will air a documentary series titled “English: an Escape Story.” Atresmedia will premiere the first episode in prime time on Tuesday, February 14, followed by the second episode on Wednesday, February 15, at the same hour.

The current lineup on Atresplayer Premium centers on the disappearance of Antonio Anglés, the primary suspect in the torture and murder of Miriam, Toñi, and Desirée — three Valencia girls aged 14 and 15 from Alcàsser. The documentary marks three decades since the fateful escape and the sensational case that shocked Spain in 1993. In this special, Genar Seagull and Jorge Saucedo, the investigative journalists behind the project, reconstruct the final steps of the fugitive and describe the escape with new detail.

Angles: Summary of an Escape Story

The first episode, Angles: The Story of an Escape, opens on January 24, 1993, the night authorities recovered the bodies of the three friends who had vanished two months earlier. It chronicles 44 days of relentless pursuit and the many missteps that allowed Antonio Anglés to remain at large. The account highlights a series of perplexing decisions by the justice system, security forces, and political leaders of the era, and how those choices shaped the pursuit and the public memory of the case.

The second episode turns to one of the most enigmatic chapters of Anglés’ flight: his journey as a stowaway aboard the freighter City of Plymouth, bound for Liverpool, England, and his sudden disappearance just hours before reaching his destination. The filmmakers draw on previously unreleased testimonies from witnesses who lived through those final moments with Anglés, offering new insight into what may have occurred during that voyage.
