Due to differences in skin structure, body care products cannot be applied to the face. Dermatologist-cosmetologist Lyubov Stolina, director of the Russian representative office of SKINCOUTURE, told socialbites.ca.

According to Stolina, since the skin on the body is denser than the face, facial creams will be ineffective in this regard.

“Modern active ingredients used in facial cosmetics cannot penetrate as effectively into the deep layers of body skin. The beautician explained that they are more likely to stay on the surface without achieving their goal.

He added that there are more oil glands on the face and the use of body products can cause them to become clogged.

“When developing face creams, manufacturers use ingredients that do not have a comedogenic effect – they do not clog pores. On the contrary, body creams often use ingredients with a film-forming effect, which when applied to the face can cause clogging of pores,” Stolina warned.

He stated that there are substances suitable for both the face and the body; these are exfoliators (AHA acids and retinoids), moisturizing complexes (beta-glucans, panthenol, hyaluronic acid) and oils that are a source of essential fatty acids and Omega -3. 6, -9.

As a result, the dermatologist recommended that body creams not be used on the face.

“Cosmetology has a rule: All creams for facial skin care can be used for body care. But it is better to leave body creams only for body skin care,” said Lyubov Stolina.
