— Do you feel a special responsibility towards your fans on the eve of the concert?
— I feel 100% responsibility, fear and anxiety. For me, this is not just another birthday concert, it is a farewell to the past and a step towards the completely unknown, a new decade. It’s like I’m blocking my way back with this concert, so I’m not afraid of that, I’m afraid of what will happen next. I also give hope to all my viewers and I am very afraid of not meeting their expectations.
— You said that the show cost you 7 million rubles and will be the most expensive show in your career. What did you spend the most money on?
“I think it would be better if I asked my mother this question.” He is the overall producer of the entire story, reviewing estimates and allocating the budget. Of course, the biggest expense item is related to the technical part of the concert; light, sound, new stage construction, furry visuals and other words I don’t understand.
— You learned to play the drums especially for the concert. How much time did you spend learning a new skill? Was this difficult to do?
— The idea was born spontaneously. They just wrote to me in the comments: “Kat, it would be great if you played drums at your concert!” So I thought: “Why not?” Also, I have been interested in drums as a musical instrument for a long time, but as always, I was afraid to start, I could not find free time and motivation. And then a clear goal appeared that set me on fire – so literally in two months I learned to play the parts I needed.
I came out of this process incredibly high. I think drums are one of the few musical instruments that I truly love. I’m sure I will continue to implement and improve this in the future. And my debut will take place at the concert.
— Were you inspired by other artists while working on the show? Maybe Beyoncé and the Renaissance tour?
“This is a very interesting coincidence, because this summer I was at Beyoncé’s concert in Barcelona and I wasn’t alone, I was with Vagan, the director of my show. It was incredibly helpful and very inspiring. Then we came together as a team and discussed the concept, costumes, creators, vocals and dances. We decided to take inspiration from such large-scale tours of world stars in the future.
— Which new Katya Adushkina will your fans see next year?
“This is probably the most pressing and urgent issue that now worries not only my subscribers, but also myself. I will answer this throughout my program. Come and find out the answer!
— In September, you released the album Speed Up, which contains sped-up versions of your hit songs. How did you and your team come up with this idea?
– Timelapse – versions of tracks that have recently started going viral and appearing on TikTok. This has become quite the trend, so my music team and I decided to ride and support this wave.
— In May, Instasamka published a similar recording. Have you listened to him? If your answer is yes, did you like it?
— My team sent me this recording while we were working on our Speed Up so I could find out what others were already doing. I have never seen such a practice among artists before. I listened to a few tracks and liked them, they sound very fresh.
— Speed Up is a hot trend in music now. Speeded-up tracks from outside artists from SZA to Kendrick Lamar soar to peaks faster than the original versions. Why do you think?
— It seems to me that Speed Up is keeping up with the times. Nowadays, trends change rapidly, users scroll quickly, perceive and remember information quickly and then forget quickly; Everything happens so quickly. and also Speed Up is a trendy sound and strongly reflects the times we live in.
— You released a collaborative track with Hofmannita in August. Which of you suggested recording compliance?
— In my opinion, this is the most obvious collaboration that music show business has ever heard of. I initially came up with the track myself and realized it would sound great with Anya. Then I sent a demo to Anya using maximum randomness, although before we did not know each other personally, we only knew each other in absentia. To be honest, I didn’t even think he would just answer me. But this happened too quickly; He literally recorded his parts in three days. This piece is the biggest joke, the biggest coincidence, and I’m honestly still in shock that we did this. This is so crazy.
— You had a breakup six months ago. Have you recovered from the breakup and are you ready for a new relationship?
— It’s a very interesting period of life in which I now live alone and get to know myself. And I wouldn’t want to get into any relationships right now. I will discuss this topic in more detail in the fourth season of my reality show AKSHOW, which will be released on YouTube at the end of October.
— Recently, Klava Koka met her soul mate on a reality show. Can you take part in such projects? Do you really believe you can fall in love there and find a partner for life?
— Of course, I saw the project with Klava’s participation and watched all its episodes. I even had my own favorites that I rooted for. I’m incredibly happy for Klava! I believe you really wanted this and found your man. I think Sasha Poverin is an incredible competitor.
While watching the project, I was constantly imagining myself in Klava’s shoes and thinking about what I would do, who I would choose, and how easily I could talk about my private life. I think this was a pretty interesting experience and I will try this format to find a relationship in the future. Very honest, open and amazing.
— After TikTok stopped working in Russia, many bloggers began to admit a decrease in their income; not all of them have yet acquired a new capacity. Did the closure of the social network in the country affect you very much?
— Since I am a video blogger and have been in this industry for over 10 years, my main platform is YouTube. TikTok’s arrival and departure to Russia did not affect me in any way. I don’t consider myself a TikToker, it’s not my main platform. On the contrary, I am more glad that I will not spend much time on TikTok.
— Do you think there are enough analogues of TikTok in Russia now?
— To be honest, I don’t follow any vertical platforms other than YouTube.
— What do you think about the fact that in Russia the public envies so-called bloggers and criticizes them for their high incomes? Why do you think this happens?
— I think this attitude always manifests itself towards professions that are in new demand. Moreover, bloggers are often presented as millionaires living a good life without doing anything. In fact, this is far from the case and there is often a lot of work hidden behind that beautiful picture that everyone sees. I am also one of those bloggers who started creating things at a time when no one knew how to blog.
I will say this: It’s a good thing bloggers are hated now, because at least they’re perceived. Everyone gets angry and asks, “Why do we need bloggers?” I remember very well when he said and called them “worthless”. And now bloggers are absolutely everywhere. We are recognized, they see our impact on the public and that is the most important thing to me.
— You are one of the most stylish young stars, you carefully consider your appearance on the red carpet. Do you use the services of stylists or dress yourself?
– Thank you very much for your compliment! I have a wonderful stylist, Toma, who I have worked with for several years. I’ve taken my style and appearance more seriously lately. I used to dress on my own, now I regularly go shopping with a stylist every six months, create daily capsules, and plan looks with my Toma for all social events.
— Coming back to the topic of concerts, summarize the first ten years of your career. What accomplishments are you most proud of? What were the most difficult moments? Was there anything you wanted to give up?
— What I remember most is my first million subscribers, and then we started working more closely with my director, Kirill Didenko. I also remember how I had to jump with a parachute when I had five million subscribers. I remember very well my first concert where no one came. Now when I look back and see how they bought tickets for the screening, I am very proud of that little Katya!
Of course, one of the main achievements is the beginning of a musical career, the first big shows, the first songs and videos. I believe that my tracks really changed the industry thanks to the emergence of the trend of team pop music, and I became the first person to be invited and received a nomination for Glamor magazine’s “Woman of the Year” (“Breakthrough of the Year” – 2019” – approx. “ socialbites.ca “). I’m really proud of the fact that we were ahead of the curve, doing things first, and really changing the industry.
