You can save money if you get a discount on the weekend when buying second hand. Stylist Olga Kim told socialbites.ca about this. She explained that there are very few quality items left in such sales, so she risks spending a lot of time searching for something valuable.

“Usually, second-hand stores have discounts on the weekend – it’s best to subscribe to the store’s news on social networks and know exactly when the lowest price will be. I follow one of these stores and, for example, I bought a cool plaid shirt for 100 rubles at just such a sale last year. But there’s a “but” here – usually there aren’t many “masterpieces” left on sale. That’s why you need to devote more time to archaeological excavations, ”explained the stylist.

According to Kim, things from the ’90s and 2000s are now in vogue, so you should look for plus-size clothing, long jackets, and retro-style clothing in thrift stores.

“To dress cool in second-hand clothes, you have to master modern trends because there are so many outdated things. The 2010s are now the most “anti-trend” period, but things from 20-30 years ago are becoming popular again. What can you look for in second-hand stores now? Pieces from the 90s: washed jeans like in the movie Pretty Woman, colorful adidad bolognese jackets, miniskirts, mesh pieces, long straight or fitted jackets. Things of the 2000s: short cardigans, cropped tops, plus-size pieces: jackets, leather jackets, T-shirts, long sleeves, pleated wide trousers in men’s style. There is a life hack – you can watch all this in the men’s section. Things in retro style: a-line dresses with collars, blouses with bows, jeans and trousers with wide knees, dresses with sleeves below the knee length. Timeless pieces such as offbeat evening dresses or avant-garde asymmetrical cut dresses. Accessories that rarely go out of style are caps, hats, silk scarves,” said Kim.

He added that when you go to a second-hand store, you can buy something cheap from the 70s and sell it to vintage enthusiasts and make money.

“Vintage is rare – not just any second-hand shops are suitable here, but rather flea markets or specialty vintage markets and shops where they sell by hand. What to look for there – for example, 80s, 60s clothes. A skirt in the spirit of Chanel plus a You will find a boucle jacket or perhaps the original Chanel that is now in vogue. Here you can even make money if you buy a cheap 70s blouse from your grandmother – you can sell it to vintage connoisseurs for a tidy sum, ”the expert emphasized.

The stylist said that Hollywood stars like Julia Roberts and Winona Ryder “do not disdain” second-hand clothing, admitting to wearing second-hand dresses at the Oscars.
