According to the publication, Italy became the leader among EU countries in Schengen visas issued in 2023 – 134.3 thousand visas were issued to Russians there. France ranked second with 99.6 thousand visas, while Spain (96.8 thousand visas) ranked third.
According to the European Commission, citizens of the Russian Federation applied for a total of 520 thousand Schengen applications in 2023. At the same time, in 10.6% of rejected cases, the reason was financial.
